About this video
Securing a toe hold after failing to pick the ankle from an inside hook:
- With the opponent's leg still on your hip, slide your hand back to their toes.
- Reach under their leg to secure the toe hold grip on your own wrist.
- Turn the opponent by cranking the toe hold, forcing them onto their belly.
- Regardless of whether the opponent tries to roll, maintain the hold and follow them.
- Ensure the grip is tight with no space for the opponent to wiggle free.
- Position your wrist over their toes and grab your own wrist, just like an Achilles lock, to maximize leverage.
- Minimize gaps and cinch up the hold to prevent any escape.
- If the opponent attempts to roll, block their leg with yours to prevent the roll.
- Even if the opponent manages to roll, stay with them and maintain the toe hold without giving up the leg.
