About this video
Executing a step over armbar from a snap down position involves several key movements:
- Start by snapping the opponent down to bring them forward.
- Pivot on one foot while swinging the other foot behind you to steer the opponent by the belt.
- Turn the opponent by lifting their arm and stepping around, which brings their arm to you and their head under your leg.
- Squeeze the opponent's head with your legs and adjust your grip as necessary.
- If the opponent's head does not go under your leg during the spin, you can slide over and control the neck, similar to a previous technique.
- Post your shin against the opponent's back, pivot on your foot, and finish the armbar.
- Maintain a physical connection with your opponent after the takedown to prevent them from escaping. Creating space gives them an opportunity to escape.
It's crucial to control the opponent's neck and keep your shin against their back to secure the position and successfully apply the armbar.
