About this video
Transitioning from a leg sweeping throw into an elbow crush submission:
- Start with your opponent's grip on your jacket released and their arm folded over.
- Ensure there is no space left for your opponent to wiggle their arm free by keeping the hold tight.
- Position the blade of your wrist deep into their elbow joint, grabbing your own wrist to form a figure-four (wrist to wrist).
- Keep your opponent's arm connected to your chest without allowing any separation.
- If your opponent is resisting an armbar by holding hands, draw their arm in towards your body.
- Point the hand that is under their arm towards your navel and rotate the other hand outward while squeezing to apply pressure.
- Ensure your grip is just above their wrist and pull it towards your belly button.
- As you rotate your wrist outwards, the opponent should tap due to the pressure of the elbow crush.
- If the opponent releases their grip due to the pressure, you can transition to an armbar.
This elbow crush technique is effective in making the opponent tap or release their defensive grip, allowing for a switch to an armbar.
