About this video
Executing an arm triangle choke from a scarf position after a 2-on-1 Russian Grip:
- Start with a 2-on-1 grip, perform a step and a pancake to end up in a scarf position.
- Instead of attacking the arm, slide down the arm to secure a high scarf position on the opponent's chest.
- Ensure your leg is under the opponent's shoulder and reach for your leg with your hand, keeping the opponent's head off the mat.
- Maintain a straight leg on the side you're attacking to prevent being rolled over if the opponent bridges.
- Keep the other leg far out for counterbalance and flat for pushing.
- When the opponent frames against your chest, pass their arm across their face to the other side.
- Lean forward to keep your heads close, preventing the opponent's arm from slipping out.
- Use the back of your head to push the opponent's arm across their throat, ensuring the choke targets the neck and not the face.
- Adjust your grip depth based on the opponent's shoulder width, aiming for a gable grip if you cannot reach your bicep.
- For additional pressure, you can go belly down to apply more body weight and gravity.
This sequence leads to a tight arm triangle choke, with the critical detail of using the back of your head to ensure the opponent's arm is correctly positioned across their throat.
