About this video
Executing the Melnitsa, or Fireman's Carry, from a two-on-one grip:
- Start with a two-on-one grip on the opponent's arm.
- Drop to one knee, making your far leg the lead leg, and duck under the opponent's torso.
- The hand that was on the wrist reaches beneath the opponent's torso, while the other hand pulls over your shoulder.
- Keep your head up and support the opponent's weight on your shoulder.
- Your arm should come straight up, not hugging the opponent's leg, to mimic the lateral motion of a windmill.
- The supporting leg acts as a buttress to prevent falling over.
- For the throw, drop the supporting leg straight out to bring the opponent over.
- After completing the throw, maintain control of the opponent's arm to prevent them from rolling away and to facilitate transitioning to the next position.
It is crucial to keep control of the opponent's arm throughout the throw and after completion to maintain dominance.
