About this video

Executing a short shoulder lock from the scarf position:

  1. Slide your forearm behind the opponent's elbow, reaching towards your hand behind their back.
  2. Pinch the opponent's wrist with your arm to prevent them from straightening it out and escaping.
  3. Ensure the pinch forces the opponent's arm to bend at a 90-degree angle, which is the position needed to attack the shoulder.
  4. Grab your own hand and perform a curling motion to apply the lock.
  5. Compress by pushing the opponent's elbow towards their shoulder while lifting to secure the shoulder lock.
  6. Avoid common mistakes such as not sliding deep enough behind the arm or failing to pinch the wrist.
  7. Use your stomach as a guide to ensure you are deep enough behind the arm before reaching out the other side to complete the lock.

This technique results in a quick and effective shoulder lock when the opponent's arm is not available for an armbar or arm triangle.
