About this video
Executing an armbar from the pancake throw off a Russian Tie:
- Start with a Russian Tie and step to the outside, tripping with the near leg to execute the pancake throw.
- It is crucial to maintain control of the opponent's arm throughout the throw. If they have a cross grip, their hand will be locked in place for the armbar.
- After the throw, immediately control the opponent's neck with your knee, pushing their head to the side to facilitate the armbar.
- If the opponent's arm is in a compromised position, you may be able to finish the armbar without additional adjustments.
- Should the opponent attempt to free their hand, revert to the armbar setup previously learned: pivot, adjust your grip, and apply the submission.
- Emphasize the importance of maintaining control from the throw to the ground to avoid losing the advantage.
- After the pancake throw, place your knee over the opponent's face to turn them onto their side, setting up the armbar.
- If the opponent does not release their grip, you can finish the armbar directly. If they do release, transition to the elbow crush grip, pivot your leg over, and secure the armbar.
- Practice the flow from the two-on-one grip, through the pancake throw, to the final armbar submission, ensuring a seamless transition from grip to submission.
