Counter the ankle pick with an armpit choke when the opponent's head is under your armpit:

  1. Maintain the over-the-shoulder grip as the opponent attempts an ankle pick.
  2. Keep the elbow pinched to secure the position, similar to the standing setup.
  3. With the opponent's head under your armpit, reach under with your free hand to grab their lapel.
  4. Apply pressure with your torso and armpit to the right side while pulling the lapel to the left with your hand.
  5. The result is a choke or neck crank, depending on the depth of the grip.
  6. If anticipating the ankle pick, immediately start reaching for the lapel as you fall backward.
  7. Once you have the lapel grip, pull the opponent in and use your armpit to apply pressure, securing the choke.

This technique allows you to counter an ankle pick with an effective jacket choke.
