Executing the Russian Tie (2-on-1 Outside Grip) as a counter to a cross grip:
- Begin by securing the opponent's wrist to your body, making their hand part of your torso.
- Step back with your left leg, pulling the opponent forward to expose their arm.
- While maintaining wrist control, bring your other arm under the opponent's armpit.
- Ensure you wrap around the opponent's arm to keep their elbow bent, creating a V shape with their arm and your torso.
- With this control, you have various options as you are in an advantageous position.
- Remember to keep the grip tight, preventing the opponent from moving their arm freely.
- Control the limb by integrating it with your body movements, putting their wrist in jeopardy if they resist.
- As you step back and come under the armpit, maintain control of the elbow and shoulder.
- Keep the opponent's free arm away, making it difficult for them to reach you.
- For a takedown, you can use the grip to snap the opponent down to their knees by driving your shoulder forward and controlling the shoulder, elbow, and wrist.
This grip is powerful as it places the opponent's shoulder in a vulnerable angle, giving you control over their posture and balance.
