About this video
Execute a sacrificial front trip from an opposite lapel sleeve grip by using body weight and gravity to drop and pull the opponent over. Unlike a standard front trip where feet are aligned in a straight line, this variation involves a drop to the knees.
- Start with an opposite lapel sleeve grip and prepare for a slight penetration step forward. Avoid taking too large of a step.
- Initiate a back step, but instead of landing on the foot, drop directly to the knees.
- Without the grip, practice the motion: step forward and stretch out into the position, landing on the knees with the body extended.
- Ensure the knee of the tripping leg faces the floor to protect your own knee from injury. The hips should also be turned.
- With the grip secured, take the small penetration step, followed by a big back step, and then drop to the knees.
- Use the momentum of your body weight and gravity, similar to the movement of a sitting armbar, to execute the sacrificial front trip effectively.
