About this video
Transitioning from a Drop Seoi Nage to a North-South position involves rolling over the opponent, smothering their face, and controlling their neck and hips by holding their belt. To set up a kneebar attack:
- Pin the opponent's arms to prevent them from cross-facing. Use both hands to secure the arms.
- Perform a leap frog motion to sit on the opponent's belly. Apply pressure and jump up, landing with your weight on them.
- Instead of holding the arms, you can place your hands on the opponent's chest, body, or even the floor, depending on their reaction.
- After sitting on the opponent, hug one of their legs. There's no need to insert your leg in between; simply cross your feet around both of their thighs.
- Shift all your weight to the side to finish with a kneebar on the trapped leg.
- If the opponent uses their free foot to defend, you can grab the other leg and apply the kneebar over it, effectively using their own leg against them.
- When leaping up, make sure to come onto your feet, not your knees, to ensure proper positioning for the kneebar.
- If both legs are within reach, you can cross one over the other to secure the kneebar from the North-South position.
This leap frog kneebar is difficult to defend against and often surprises opponents, making it a highly effective submission technique.
