About this video
Executing the Pancake throw from the Russian Tie, also known as a two-on-one grip:
- Begin with a two-on-one grip, which can be established either from a counter or a grip break.
- Ensure the opponent's hand is trapped, providing better control.
- Initiate the throw by stepping to the outside towards the opponent's free arm while simultaneously sitting to drop your weight. This step and sit motion is crucial.
- The near leg acts as the tripping leg. As you sit, bring this leg in front of the opponent to trip them.
- Use your whole body weight to bring the opponent down over the tripping leg, leveraging gravity to assist in the throw.
- Maintain control of the opponent's wrist throughout the throw to ensure they cannot escape.
- After completing the throw, keep control of the arm, allowing you to transition to a dominant position or submission attempt.
- Remember that the throw is not complete until you have established control over your opponent post-throw.
- The Pancake is a versatile throw that can be adapted to various grips and can be executed in multiple directions.
It is emphasized that constant motion and using gravity are key elements in performing this throw effectively.
