About this video
Transitioning from a drop shoulder throw into north-south position, immediately underhook the opponent's neck with one arm while keeping the other arm pinned to prevent them from defending. The pectoralis muscle should be positioned on the opponent's chest, aligning with the curve of their neck to apply pressure for the choke.
- Maintain constant pressure with the chest to prevent the opponent from tucking their chin and escaping the choke.
- Shift weight so the chest becomes the focal point, sliding back to position the pectoralis muscle into the opponent's throat.
- Keep a fist under the opponent's neck and, while sliding back, arch the wrist upwards to open their neck.
- Ensure the arm that is underhooking the neck keeps the opponent's arm pinned, potentially reaching under to grab for additional control.
- As you slide back, maintain pressure and simultaneously raise the wrist to keep the opponent's neck open for the choke.
- It is crucial not to relieve the pressure or allow the opponent to tuck their chin, as this will lose the choke.
- The choke is executed by sliding the armpit back like a "rape choke," ensuring the pressure stays on and the wrist is arched to open the neck.
This technique, known as the pec choke from the north-south position, requires precise pressure and wrist movement to be effective.
