About this video
Transitioning from a leg sweeping throw into an elbow crush submission:
- Start with your opponent's grip on your jacket released and their arm folded over.
- Ensure there is no space left for your opponent to wiggle their arm free by keeping the hold tight.
- Position your wrist deep in the opponent's elbow joint, grabbing your own wrist to form a figure four (also known as a bicep slicer).
- Keep the opponent's arm connected to your chest without allowing any separation.
- If the opponent is resisting an armbar by holding hands, suck in their arm towards you.
- Point the hand that is under their elbow towards your navel and rotate the other hand outward while squeezing to apply the submission.
- Ensure the grip is just above their wrist and pull it towards your belly button.
- By hugging the arm tightly, you may force the opponent to release their grip, allowing you to transition to an armbar if necessary.
- Remember the sequence: wrist to wrist to wrist, suck it to your chest, rotate the wrist, and apply the tap.
The elbow crush is an effective submission from the Knee on Belly position, especially when dealing with an opponent defending against an armbar.
