About this video
Executing the Toreando Pass against a guard pull involves a series of steps to maintain control and prevent the opponent's defenses. Begin by breaking the opponent's grip as they pull guard and move away from their legs to set up for the pass. It's crucial to keep a safe distance from the opponent's legs to avoid being caught.
- Choose the side to pass and step your leg towards that direction while hiding your other leg to protect it from being caught.
- Use one hand to grip the opponent's knee on the side you intend to pass and place the other hand on their hip, turning your palm up and reaching all the way to the hip to use your elbow against their leg.
- Change your level and start using your elbow to press against the opponent's leg to prevent them from establishing a lasso or knee shield.
- Walk to the side while pushing the opponent's neck down, keeping your toes on the mat for pressure and your forehead looking towards their opposite shoulder to stay low.
- Continue to push the leg down and start to slide it, dragging the leg down as you fall onto it, maintaining pressure with your toes.
- Pause in the leg drag position with your head down, then release the grip on the knee and slide under the opponent.
- Secure a grip on the collar, control the hips, and stabilize in the leg drag position.
Throughout the pass, it's important to keep your elbows closed to prevent the opponent from defending, use your elbow against their leg to block their movements, and maintain a low posture with your shoulder to ensure a successful pass to the leg drag position.
