About this video
Execute a fast guard pass against the Reverse De La Riva when the opponent lacks an ankle grip, allowing for leg mobility, with the only impediment being the Reverse De La Riva Hook. Begin with a grip on the collar, keeping the elbow closed, and choose between palm down or palm up grip, with a preference for palm down. Secure the other grip outside the opponent's knee, with the elbow resting on your thigh to reinforce the grip. Instead of pushing the leg down, pull it up.
- Make the opponent's back go flat on the mat by squaring up with them and pushing their knee while simultaneously pinching your knees together.
- In a single motion, bring your heel towards your buttocks and perform a windshield wiper motion with your leg to escape the Reverse De La Riva Hook.
- As you escape, drag the opponent's leg across to end up in the leg drag position, ensuring your head is down and your elbow blocks their leg.
- Release the grip on the knee and either control under the opponent's hips or transition to an underhook and collar grip to stabilize the position.
Remember to keep your hips low and use only your legs to work the windshield wiper motion, freeing yourself from the hook and setting up the leg drag. Once in the leg drag position, maintain control by pinching your knees and keeping your head down.
