About this video

Executing the leg weave pass from De La Riva when the opponent controls your ankle:

  1. Begin by escaping the De La Riva hook to create space to move towards the opponent.
  2. Push the De La Riva hook down while simultaneously controlling the opponent's ankle.
  3. Pop your leg out, take a small step to the side and a back step, then jump over the opponent's leg and pinch your knee in.
  4. Without pausing, place your hands on the floor and slide the grip under the opponent's leg.
  5. Let go of the leg, grab the ankle, and you can choose to control the knee or the collar with your elbow against the opponent's leg.
  6. Break the opponent's grip and walk towards them, placing your hands on the floor for balance.
  7. Perform the leg weave by placing your knee between the opponent's legs and leaning forward towards their shoulder.
  8. Release the wrist grip, grab the collar, and pull the opponent close to make the position comfortable.
  9. Control the hips by sliding your hand to the opponent's far hip, working your shoulder on top of their hands.
  10. Hook the opponent's leg with your hand for better control or clear any hooks they may attempt on your leg.
  11. Execute a hip escape and place your hooks on top of the opponent's heel, maintaining pressure.
  12. Pass to the leg drag position by moving your knee into the created space and stabilize the position by leaning forward close to the opponent's shoulder.
  13. If the opponent hooks your leg during the leg weave, drop your knee to the mat and walk your leg out to free it.
  14. Shift your hips higher and stabilize the leg drag position.
