About this video
Executing the leg weave pass from De La Riva when the opponent controls your ankle:
- Begin by escaping the De La Riva hook to create space to move towards the opponent.
- Push the De La Riva hook down while simultaneously controlling the opponent's ankle.
- Pop your leg out, take a small step to the side and a back step, then jump over the opponent's leg and pinch your knee in.
- Without pausing, place your hands on the floor and slide the grip under the opponent's leg.
- Let go of the leg, grab the ankle, and you can choose to control the knee or the collar with your elbow against the opponent's leg.
- Break the opponent's grip and walk towards them, placing your hands on the floor for balance.
- Perform the leg weave by placing your knee between the opponent's legs and leaning forward towards their shoulder.
- Release the wrist grip, grab the collar, and pull the opponent close to make the position comfortable.
- Control the hips by sliding your hand to the opponent's far hip, working your shoulder on top of their hands.
- Hook the opponent's leg with your hand for better control or clear any hooks they may attempt on your leg.
- Execute a hip escape and place your hooks on top of the opponent's heel, maintaining pressure.
- Pass to the leg drag position by moving your knee into the created space and stabilize the position by leaning forward close to the opponent's shoulder.
- If the opponent hooks your leg during the leg weave, drop your knee to the mat and walk your leg out to free it.
- Shift your hips higher and stabilize the leg drag position.
