About this video
Executing a Stack Pass from closed guard when the opponent blocks the head hug:
- Push the opponent's knee down, ensuring your knee is in front of their hips, and go under their leg to reach the corner.
- When reaching the corner, place your palm down, close your elbow, and start to step for the Stack Pass.
- If the opponent defends by framing against your biceps to prevent the head hug, grab their triceps and make a grip on the material, pulling it towards you.
- Maintain the grip and close your elbow, looking away from the opponent. Use your toes on the mat to slightly lift your hips, creating space to slide your knee through.
- Open your knee to create more space, lift your hips, and begin to cut your knee over the opponent's leg, posting your other leg for leverage.
- Apply pressure over the opponent's leg, stretching them out, and maintain the grip on the triceps, which is crucial for control.
- If possible, swing your arm to gain an overhook on the opponent's arm for better leverage.
- Slide your knee to pass the guard, keeping the grip tight. When your hips touch the opponent's, start walking towards their hips to flatten them out.
- Once the opponent is flat, walk your knees towards their hips and hug the head. Release the grip on the triceps and the leg to stabilize in side control.
Repeat the sequence from a different angle to observe the hip movement and transition into side control.
