About this video
Executing a long step pass against a De la Riva guard with a pant grip:
- Begin by controlling the opponent's non-De la Riva leg to prevent them from stepping on your biceps or off-balancing you.
- Push down on the De la Riva hook and simultaneously lift your trapped leg to start freeing it.
- Walk your foot outwards to position your knee over the opponent's shin, which is essential for breaking their pant grip.
- Slide your knee across their shin while at the same time hugging their head to initiate the long step pass.
- As you perform the long step, the pant grip should break. Immediately control the opponent's bottom leg to prevent them from re-establishing guard.
- Finalize the pass by fighting against their legs with your hands and walking towards their head to stabilize the position.
