About this video
Executing a long step pass to leg drag against De la Riva guard:
- Start with a thumb-inside grip on the collarbone and pull the opponent up, using your elbow to counter the De la Riva hook and a C-grip on their ankle.
- Push their leg down and perform a small back step to free your leg from the De la Riva hook.
- When jumping over the opponent's leg, ensure your knee controls their leg by pinching it behind their thigh to prevent them from regaining the hook.
- If the opponent places a knee shield, grab their collar to prevent them from going under you and switch your other hand to a grip on top of their knee, closing your elbow to smash their knee down.
- Execute a long step, pushing the opponent's leg down to transition to the leg drag position. As you do this, lean forward, placing your forehead on their shoulder for control and balance.
- Go onto your toes and use your shoulder to press against their leg as you switch sides, looking in the direction you are moving to.
- Bring the opponent's leg over your lap and secure it with your elbow to prevent them from reinserting their knee.
- Release the grip on the collar and slide your hand under the opponent's hips to control them.
- Secure a grip on the opponent's pants, pull up towards your shoulder while pressing down under their buttocks, and stabilize in the leg drag position.
