About this video
Executing a long step pass against Reverse De La Riva guard:
- When your opponent has Reverse De La Riva and controls your ankle, they will likely try to go under you.
- Apply pressure on your opponent by being heavy and grabbing their collar to prevent them from going under.
- Continuously push your opponent with the collar grip to make their position uncomfortable.
- Grab the top of their knee with your other hand and close your elbow to apply additional pressure.
- Drop your knee to the mat to block their leg and create space by lifting your chest and elbow to push their leg down.
- Slide your knee over their shin to break the grip on your ankle.
- As you slide your knee, change direction to transition into the Leg Drag position.
- Hug your opponent's hips, then hug their head, and execute a long step to pass their guard.
- Control the bottom leg, walk towards your opponent to flatten them, and stabilize in side control.
- Remember to switch sides if necessary to break the grip on your ankle, using your knee to pinch their leg.
- Look towards their legs, push your elbow under, and push their leg down as you move your chest up.
- Drop your knee to the mat and transition to the Leg Drag pass, placing your shoulder on top of their leg and your head near their face.
- Block the hips, hug the head, drop your knee, and long step to finalize the pass.
- Control the bottom leg to prevent their defense and use your hips to drive forward, pushing the knee to flatten your opponent into side control.
