About this video
Escaping from deep half guard and passing:
- Start in regular half guard and prevent the opponent from securing a deep underhook and going under your leg.
- Once the opponent enters deep half, focus on freeing your knee by pushing their leg down and pinching your knee to the mat for control.
- Use one hand for balance and keep your toes on the mat. Continuously fight against the opponent's leg to prevent it from going above your knee.
- Create space to switch sides by pushing the opponent's head down and opening your knee as much as possible.
- Slide your hips across the opponent's face, replacing your grip with your elbow in their armpit, and begin to slide your knee out.
- Control the opponent's leg with your hand and slide your elbow to their knee, lifting your knee to shift it across.
- Use your other leg to kick the opponent's bottom leg away, flexing your foot to make it easier to slide out.
- Step on the opponent's leg to maintain control and prepare to transition to north-south position.
- Control the opponent's hips to prevent them from following you, and switch your head to the other side as you move into north-south.
- Stabilize in the north-south position, ensuring your elbow is high to control the opponent's arm and your leg is free from their grip.
