About this video
When losing momentum during a guard pass, maintain a strong frame and use the following steps to recover:
- As the opponent begins to drag, step the bottom leg on the floor.
- Push against the opponent and simultaneously bring the leg back, moving the chest to create space.
- This movement should provide enough space to recover the legs back into guard.
- For more flexibility, step on the opponent's shoulder to aid in replacing the guard.
- Keep the frame intact throughout the movement, either stepping on the shoulder to replace the guard or simply moving to recover guard position.
- This technique is particularly useful when significantly behind in the guard pass sequence.
