About this video

Defending the Long Step Pass from Collar Sleeve position:

  1. Maintain a Collar Sleeve grip as the opponent attempts to pass to the right side using the Long Step Pass.
  2. As the opponent escapes the biceps control and starts to control your leg, prepare to switch your grip.
  3. When the opponent extends your leg and drops their elbow to the floor, switch your grip to biceps control.
  4. Place the controlled leg on the opponent's chest and the bottom leg on the floor.
  5. Step the controlled leg in the middle of the opponent's belly, not crossing over, to maintain central leverage.
  6. Use the bottom leg to generate leverage for inverting your body.
  7. Execute a Granby Roll by going upside down to recover the guard.
  8. When the opponent pushes your leg away and moves back to execute the Long Step, release the sleeve and establish a cup grip.
  9. Use your toes on the opponent's belly and the floor to create space and push them away.
  10. Spin underneath the opponent by going onto your shoulder and using your toes to facilitate the movement, completing the guard recovery.
