About this video
Initiate a response to the Toreando Pass transitioning into north-south position by inverting and spinning to face the partner again. This drill enhances the ability to invert and spin effectively.
- As the partner moves to north-south, make a grip inside their knees using your hands.
- Use your elbows to pry their legs open, creating space for your next move.
- Bring your knees close to your chest and start to hook their hips with your feet.
- Slide one leg under the partner's body to prepare for the spin.
- With the leg that is under, grab the partner's gi or body, placing your palm in front of your face.
- Spin towards the side of the underhooking leg, using the grip to facilitate the rotation.
- Repeat the spin to the opposite side, ensuring the opposite leg is under and the corresponding hand grips for the spin.
- Use the grip not only to spin but also to assist in returning to the starting position, ready to face the partner.
This drill is crucial for developing the agility and technique required to counter the Toreando Pass and regain a favorable position.
