About this video
Defending against the stack pass involves creating a hip frame to prevent the opponent from moving forward. The following steps outline the defense:
- As the opponent begins the stack pass and tries to put a leg over the shoulder, immediately stop their hips with a frame and elevate your own hips.
- Use the frame on the hips to prevent the opponent from smashing and passing. This frame is crucial for stopping the pass for a few seconds.
- Flex the leg that is being pressured and use the hamstrings to push the opponent back slightly.
- Open the leg against the opponent's biceps to create space and alleviate pressure.
- Slide your back backwards, using a shoulder escape motion to break the opponent's grip on your leg.
- As the grip breaks, switch the frame to the opponent's shoulder, pummel your leg inside, and regain control, returning to the regular open guard.
- Throughout the process, ensure to keep your legs flexed and use your hamstrings effectively to maintain the correct positioning and pressure.
