About this video
Executing a sit-up escape when facing a leg drag involves using momentum and timing to establish a cross grip on the collar. As the partner initiates the leg drag, maintain a frame and start to reach for the collar grip. Once the grip is secured, post the elbow and use the momentum to sit up, pushing the partner away. The knuckles should be positioned on the neck to maintain distance.
If the collar grip is not available, alternative grips include grabbing the elbow or the armpit. The preferred grip is the one that best maintains distance. To practice, perform a butt scoot to the side, frame against the partner's movement, post the elbow, and push away as you sit up. Timing is crucial; a delayed reaction will result in losing the position. This drill should be practiced on both sides for proficiency.
