About this video
Recovering guard from a knee cut pass attempt while in collar sleeve position:
- Start with a collar sleeve guard, stepping on the opponent's biceps and hips, keeping your hips slightly to the side.
- When the opponent grabs your collar and applies pressure on your knee to pass, maintain a strong frame against their neck to keep distance.
- As the opponent circles their arm to escape biceps control and moves towards a knee slide position, ensure your Reverse De La Riva hook is in place.
- Use your outside leg to pummel over and step on the opponent's shoulder, creating a lasso with the sleeve grip.
- Close your elbow and turn your palm face up to secure the lasso grip.
- Release the collar grip and use your leg to push the opponent away, creating space to move your chest back and free your bottom leg.
- With the grip still on the sleeve, step on the opponent's biceps with your now free leg.
- Circle the leg back inside, step on the hips, and re-establish the collar grip to return to the original collar sleeve position.
Key points include maintaining a strong frame to prevent the opponent from getting close, using the lasso to control their movement, and creating space to recover the guard.
