About this video
When attempting to invert from the turtle position to recover legs and finding your hip stuck, a switch of the knees can facilitate repositioning to face your partner. This is done by:
- Placing the knee on the floor as you feel your hip is stuck and unable to invert.
- Bringing the elbow in while using the forehead to look to the opposite side, initiating the roll.
- Transitioning the right shoulder to the floor, followed by the left, as you start to switch positions.
- Using the incoming knee as a frame to prevent the partner from smashing down on you.
- Avoiding the push against the partner, instead using the legs to draw the partner closer.
- Stepping through to recover the guard as you complete the turn.
This technique is crucial for re-guarding when the initial inversion is not possible due to the hip being immobilized.
