About this video
Recovering from a heavy knee slice pass involves a series of defensive adjustments:
- Start with a strong knee shield and a solid frame, pushing the opponent away while gripping their sleeve and hiding your elbow.
- If your bottom leg is trapped and you can't free it to replace your guard, don't stay in this position for too long to avoid being passed.
- Begin to stand while maintaining your grip on the sleeve, hide your elbow further, and post your hands on the floor to keep the opponent at bay.
- Slide your knee out by bringing the trapped leg up and placing your knee shield on the floor, using your elbow on the floor for leverage.
- As you place your knee on the floor, bring the other knee close to your chest and square up to your opponent, ensuring your bone is out and you're out of trouble.
- Keep your knee shield strong and your frame solid, pushing the opponent away and hiding your shoulder and elbow as you prepare to recover.
- If your bottom leg feels stuck, post your elbow and come up to a seated position.
- Place the bottom foot flat on the floor and start to extract your knee.
- When the opponent tries to drive you away, bring your knee close to your chest to facilitate the escape and repositioning.
