About this video
Introducing the hip frame concept to prevent easy guard passes, particularly against the Toreando Pass. This technique involves using a frame to create leverage and stop the opponent's momentum.
- When an opponent grips the hips and attempts a Toreando Pass, keep your knees close to your chest and your back on the floor.
- As the opponent moves to the side, use a hand on the same side to create a frame without turning sideways.
- Place the framing hand close to the hips, using the elbow as a frame to provide leverage.
- If the opponent tries to drag your legs, elevate your hips off the ground using the elbow frame to block their movement.
- This frame gives you a few seconds to pummel your leg and stop the pass.
- Push the opponent away, step on their biceps, and square up to regain control.
- From this position, you can establish your preferred grip, such as collar and ankle or collar and pants.
- Remember not to face the opponent directly during their pass attempt, as this can lead to unfavorable positions.
- Use the C grip near the hips to elevate your hips and bring your knees to your chest, which facilitates the pummeling of the leg.
By using this hip frame concept, you can effectively prevent the Toreando Pass and maintain control from the bottom position.
