About this video
Executing a sweep from the basic lasso guard when the opponent stands up:
- Start with your foot on the opponent's hip and the lasso in place.
- As the opponent stands up, it's a common mistake that can be exploited.
- Use the foot on the hip to pull the opponent towards you, while maintaining a grip on the collar.
- The opposite leg should follow the motion of the pulling leg.
- By scooping your hip in and pulling, the opponent is put off balance.
- Use the foot placed on the opponent's ribs to assist in lifting them.
- Slide under the opponent as much as possible, aiming to get inside their legs.
- Break the opponent's posture by pulling the collar down and opening your elbow out.
- Once the opponent's posture is broken, you can sweep them over.
- After completing the sweep, you have the option to transition to full mount or seek submissions from the top position.
