About this video

Executing an omoplata from the lasso guard:

  1. From the lasso guard, use the lasso hook to prevent the opponent from passing to one side, creating an opportunity for the omoplata.
  2. When the opponent attempts to pass to the other side, extend the left leg while maintaining grip control.
  3. Bring the head inside and drive the leg upwards, using the opposite leg on the ground to elevate the hips.
  4. Control the opponent's pants, lift the hips, and secure a tight omoplata position.
  5. Ensure the opponent's wrist is trapped between the belly and thigh, securing it with a sit-up motion.
  6. Grab the opponent's back to prevent them from jumping or rolling out of the omoplata.
  7. When sitting up, extend the leg forward and hold the opponent's back to prevent them from posturing up.
  8. Adjust the body to the side, making the omoplata tighter, and use a scooping motion with the hips to bring the opponent down.
  9. Hook the opponent's hips and drop them to the ground, then bring the legs back and move forward to apply pressure on the shoulder for the submission.
  10. Control the wrist, adjust the body to the side, and lock the opponent's hand with the ribs and belly.
  11. Post the right foot on the ground and push forward to finalize the submission.

Additional details include preventing the opponent from posturing up by extending the legs and using the back of the palm against the opponent's leg to maintain control. Adjusting the grip and body position ensures a secure finish.
