About this video
Execute the Lasso De La Riva side sweep to transition directly into a full mount:
- Start by positioning yourself for the Lasso. As your opponent extends their leg, enter a deep De La Riva hook with your left foot crossing over to the top of their other leg.
- Execute the sweep by bringing your opponent back. As they fall, use both hands on the ground to push off and transition to the Toreando pass position.
- Control your opponent's head and position yourself as if you were in side control, with your knee high against their chest to prevent them from sweeping you back.
- Underhook your opponent and use your shoulder to pin their shoulder down, preventing them from turning into you.
- Extract their arm and bring your knee close to their ribs. Drive your heel as close as possible to their leg, with your big toe touching their thigh.
- Lift your leg slightly to bring your right foot close to their thigh, ensuring a tight mount position.
- As you advance to full mount, extend your arm to stabilize the position. Bring your heels up and force your hips down to weaken your opponent's bridge.
- Post your hands on the ground and lock your opponent in place, ready to score points from the full mount position.
