About this video
Executing a Lasso De La Riva side sweep with an armbar finish involves the following steps:
- Start from the Lasso Guard with the opponent's leg posed to prevent sweeps.
- Transition into the De La Riva hook with the right leg on the opponent's hip and combine it with the Lasso.
- Place the left foot on the ground to generate power and sweep by lifting the left foot towards the ceiling while bringing the knee down.
- As the opponent is swept, bring the hips close and drive their leg, positioning the groin close to their arm, keeping the legs tight.
- Finish with an armbar by controlling the opponent's thumb and the bone of their arm for a tight submission.
- If the opponent stretches their leg, pass your leg over their body while maintaining control of the thumb and arm bone to secure the armbar.
- Alternatively, if the opponent is swept but the leg is not stretched, use the groin to control their shoulder and finish with an armbar without passing the leg over.
This technique provides options for finishing with an armbar directly after the sweep, whether the opponent stretches their leg or not.
