About this video
Executing a sweep from the lasso position with a transition to a stack pass:
- Start with a lasso hook and as the opponent stands with a slightly bent leg, insert your hooks inside and elevate them while protecting your head and controlling their arm.
- Extend your leg and perform a back roll, ending up on top. Release their arm and shift all your weight onto your left knee.
- Drive their leg over while opening their gi and inserting your thumb as deep as possible.
- Place your hand on the ground to prevent them from bringing their leg in, trapping their leg with your shoulder and neck.
- Apply pressure and position your hand on the side of their hips, not in the middle, to lift their hip off the ground and prevent them from turning to recompose guard.
- Open your elbow towards the ground to block their hip escape and turn, creating pressure on their neck and almost submitting them.
- Stabilize the position by sliding your arm under their back to secure an underhook.
- For the guard pass to the opposite side, after sweeping, post your leg up and deeply grip their collar with your left hand.
- Project your body forward, post your hand on the ground, and start to extract your knee while controlling their pants and turning their hips away.
- Extend your body, open your elbow, and get low to maintain the choke. Ensure their arm is trapped between your leg and arm.
- Bring your arm under and join your palms together, closing your elbows to secure the position.
