About this video

Back take from the Deep X-guard begins by inserting both hooks and lifting the opponent's leg to create tightness against your shoulder and leg. Drive the opponent slightly to one side, allowing you to scoop your head inside and emerge on the other side.

  1. After passing your head through, lock the opponent's leg and reach for their back, grabbing the pants, not the belt.
  2. Drive the opponent's leg forward while maintaining control of their arm. Post your arm on top of their leg and push it forward.
  3. Bring your leg all the way to the back, trapping the opponent's leg with your hooks. Extend your leg to force their hips down.
  4. Release the grip on their hand and pull their hips towards you, driving them to the ground as you extend your legs.
  5. Immediately transition to the neck control as the opponent's body comes back. Even without hooks, maintain control with a grip on the pants, preventing their escape.
  6. If the opponent attempts to roll or escape, stay attached to their back, ready to insert hooks.
  7. Once hooks are in place, release the hand grip, create space with your left arm, and grab their opposite collar.
  8. Close your elbows, keeping your hand close to their head and your shoulder on their back. Keep your head close to theirs to prevent escape.
  9. Bring one arm out and the other down to secure a submission.

Alternatively, you can transition to a berimbolo. Sweep and stand up the leg, bring the opponent up, and grab the leg. Switch your head to the other side, post on their leg, and switch to pant control. Push their leg and move to their back, controlling the collar. Insert your hooks, release the pant grip, open space, and transition to the choke with your right hand extended to finish.
