About this video
Executing a roll-through sweep from the turtle position with a lasso and butterfly hook:
- Start with a basic lasso guard, using one foot to control the opponent's hip.
- When the opponent stands up one leg to counter, create space and insert your leg inside, posting it against their thigh instead of hooking.
- Turn onto your knees and drive your head between the opponent's legs, getting onto your elbow and freeing your knee.
- Keep your posted leg strong as you drive your head through and extend the leg to off-balance the opponent.
- As the opponent's arm becomes trapped, stand up quickly, maintaining control of the trapped arm.
- Secure the opponent's pants with your free hand and complete the sweep to end up on top.
- For the roll-through, do not use the butterfly hook; instead, place both knees on the ground and bring your elbow back.
- Use the posted leg to push the opponent forward as you execute a front roll.
- Perform a technical stand-up with both hands on the ground, trapping the opponent's arm in the process.
- Step back and bring the opponent down to secure the top position and potentially score points.
