About this video
Executing a rolling armbar from the lasso position involves several key steps:
- Start with a lasso and bring your opponent down, then switch to the corner and bring them down again.
- Post your hand in position to control their arm and stretch your leg to create an angle.
- Instead of using the shin, drive your Achilles tendon against their body as you pass your leg over their head.
- Go belly down with both knees on the ground, scooping their arm throughout the movement.
- Drop your left hip to the ground while maintaining control with your Achilles tendon.
- Control their arm with your right hand, transitioning your grip to secure their arm in the correct position for the armbar.
- Place both legs on top of your opponent, keeping them heavy and bringing their arm towards your chest.
- When finishing the armbar, avoid extending your legs into the air as this can allow your opponent to escape.
- Keep your knees together and connect your chest to your opponent's arm, with one hand controlling the hand and the other on the forearm.
- Ensure the wrist is locked and pull the arm towards you, sliding slightly to bring your opponent closer.
- Keep your legs heavy on your opponent's chest and head, with feet on the ground for maximum control.
- Finish the armbar by controlling one hand on the opponent's hand and the other on the forearm, bringing the arm to you for the submission.
It's important to maintain heavy pressure with your legs and to control the opponent's arm and hand to prevent them from turning the thumb down and escaping.
