- Start with a lasso and butterfly hook, then extend the leg to insert the hook.

- Grab the opponent's leg and reach for their arm, locking it close to your head.
- Extend the leg towards the locked arm and execute a back roll.
- Finish in a position where you can work on passing the guard.
This technique allows for a smooth transition to the X-Guard and sets up the practitioner for subsequent guard passes.
