About this video

Transitioning to a Deep X-Guard when an opponent defends against lasso sweeps:

  1. Start with the lasso, placing your foot on the opponent's hip and extending their arm.
  2. When the opponent posts their leg up to defend, insert your right leg between their legs while bringing your left leg in to hook their leg.
  3. Ensure the hook is strong but do not overextend your leg inside; just enough to secure their leg.
  4. Grab the collar with your right hand and extend your right leg inwards, pulling the opponent towards your head.
  5. As you pull them in, use your elbow to block their arm to prevent them from grabbing your hand and passing your guard.
  6. After blocking, grab their arm and lift their leg up, transitioning into the X-Guard position.
  7. Ensure you lift their leg all the way up to your shoulder, not allowing it to stay low.
  8. Lift their leg to remove any ground friction, then extend the leg, sit up, and come on top to stabilize the position.
