About this video
Transitioning to a Deep X-Guard when an opponent defends against lasso sweeps:
- Start with the lasso, placing your foot on the opponent's hip and extending their arm.
- When the opponent posts their leg up to defend, insert your right leg between their legs while bringing your left leg in to hook their leg.
- Ensure the hook is strong but do not overextend your leg inside; just enough to secure their leg.
- Grab the collar with your right hand and extend your right leg inwards, pulling the opponent towards your head.
- As you pull them in, use your elbow to block their arm to prevent them from grabbing your hand and passing your guard.
- After blocking, grab their arm and lift their leg up, transitioning into the X-Guard position.
- Ensure you lift their leg all the way up to your shoulder, not allowing it to stay low.
- Lift their leg to remove any ground friction, then extend the leg, sit up, and come on top to stabilize the position.
