About this video
Transitioning from the lasso to a triangle choke involves several key steps:
- Start by bringing the opponent down and securing a deep grip on their collar.
- Reach for the opponent's elbow, extend your leg, and move into the Omoplata position.
- Instead of finishing the Omoplata, post your leg on the ground and hip escape to create space.
- Bring your leg over the opponent's neck while keeping the collar grip tight, and start to apply the triangle choke.
- To prevent the opponent from posturing up, squeeze your legs and bring them down, then control their head.
- Adjust the triangle by placing your foot on their hip and walking on your shoulders to remove their chest from between your legs.
- Bring your leg up and chop down to tighten the triangle, ensuring your foot stays flexed for a secure lock.
- For the finish, squeeze your knees, pull the opponent's head down, and lift your hips.
- If the opponent's arm is on the wrong side, extend your hips to reach their elbow, push it across, and drop your hips to secure the arm position.
- For an additional submission, you can apply a shoulder lock by twisting the opponent's wrist towards their shoulder and moving your legs in the opposite direction while lifting your hips.
These steps allow for a tight triangle choke and provide options for transitioning to a shoulder lock if necessary.
