About this video

Approach half guard as a single leg from the back, applying wrestling techniques to enhance control and finishing ability. When facing difficulty with the whizzer or completing the move:

  1. Drop the arm that's being whizzered to cup the opponent's leg, blocking their leg from moving forward or retracting.
  2. Open your knee outwards, reach back to find the opponent's ankle, and shelf it over your hip to lock their hip angle towards you.
  3. Many opponents may concede their guard at this point, but continue to work the position.
  4. Secure the opponent's ankle, then proceed to shelf their knee by switching your blocking leg to the same side and reaching across with your other hand to block their knee.
  5. Drive your weight towards the ankle you're controlling and connect to your pass.
  6. Utilize the reverse leg drag or knee mount position to advance towards a mount, completing the sequence.
