About this video

Applying the Jedi Mind Trick to a standing opponent in De La Riva guard:

  1. Focus on controlling the hands. As the opponent steps between your legs, prepare to act.
  2. If there's no time to post and scoop your hip back for the one leg X-Guard, use the hand on the inside to perform a leg drag, similar to an arm drag.
  3. Hang off the opponent's leg with your weight and drag them into a knee cut pass position.
  4. As you drag, throw your other arm around the opponent's hip, landing your forearm to the inside of their knee, replicating the defense to the knee cut pass.
  5. Force the opponent into the knee cut pass defense position by using the momentum from the leg drag.
  6. Drag the opponent's hip on top of you, push their knee south, and insert your hook.
  7. After dragging and throwing your body to the side, use the momentum to bounce the opponent on top of you.
  8. Switch your grip, hide your bottom leg, and keep the opponent's foot off the floor. Maintain stickiness with your hook.
  9. Lift up and transition into the top position, securing control.
