About this video
Executing the Leg Bundle Twist Sweep from half guard begins with securing a deep underhook and hip control. If the opponent establishes an underhook first, use a bounce-back motion to regain the underhook and proceed with the technique.
- Perform a hip shovel movement, scooping once to pull the opponent over your body.
- Use the bottom arm to palm strike the inside of the opponent's thigh or knee to control their weight and suspend their hip over yours.
- Transition the arm that is pushing up to go over and push down, replacing it with your leg just above the opponent's knee.
- Close the triangle with your legs to secure the position.
- Find the hole in the opponent's base, primarily aiming towards the side where they have a whizzer.
- Keep the opponent's arm compromised by keeping your elbow tight.
- Execute the sweep by twisting and getting on top of the opponent.
- Once on top, you have the option to climb forward and out or, if the opponent attempts a hip escape, step behind their knees to pass the guard.
This technique is particularly effective against skilled wrestlers and scramblers, as it disrupts their connection to the mat and neutralizes the use of their legs.
