About this video

To execute the Jedi Mind Trick sweep without the opponent's backstep, begin by securing a deep conventional side underhook, with your shoulder in line with the opponent's hip and gripping their pants. Bend the opponent's leg and transfer the hook as if attempting a single leg sweep, then bundle the opponent's other leg with your arm.

  1. Roll to your back, bouncing the opponent on top of you, and transfer the hand blocking the outside of their leg to push the inside of their leg.
  2. Switch your hook to the inside, ensuring your bottom arm opens the opponent's knee to the outside of your hooking knee, maintaining the sequence: their knee, your knee, their other knee.
  3. If the hook is slipping or the opponent is hugging your head, adjust accordingly by using your arm to free your head or deepening the hook.
  4. Align your shoulder with the opponent's hip, locking it into position with your underhooking arm, and switch the hook to drag their knee out.
  5. Scoot in with your hip to glue your body against the outside of the opponent's thigh, eliminating any space.
  6. When ready to sweep, balance the opponent on top, push their leg up with your hand, and hook behind their ankle. If the hook isn't deep enough, use a hip escape to adjust.
  7. The bottom arm is crucial for organizing the position, whether it's deepening the hook, adjusting for reach, or keeping the opponent's knee outside your hooking leg.
  8. Bounce the hook behind the opponent's knee, switch the grip to palm down, and hide the bottom leg to complete the sweep.

Throughout the technique, maintain tight control and adjust your position as needed to ensure the sweep's success.
