About this video
Executing the Leg Bundle High Clinch Sweep from half guard begins by securing an underhook and hooking the opponent's legs. When the opponent is close to disconnecting, and neither side offers an exit, additional tactics such as using a lapel wrap for torque or a palm strike to the wrist may be employed. If these fail, revert to a previous sweep from a leg bundle position.
- With an underhook in place, transition to a strong clinching position while maintaining a leg bundle or a near-closed guard.
- Release the legs, placing the far leg flat on the floor. Attempt to wipe your leg under the opponent's knee or use your hook to lift and revert to half guard.
- Depending on the opponent's weight distribution, either twist or switch hooks, scoot the hip underneath, and step on the floor to load their hip.
- Bridge and secure the underhook, focusing on maintaining connection with the opponent.
- If unable to execute a single leg or re-roll towards the whizzer, push, bounce, and bundle the legs, then pull back to the clinching position.
- From the clinch, abandon the closed guard and aim for the sweep by dropping one leg and wiping it under the opponent's leg while lifting with the hook to capture their leg, ensuring one leg remains on top.
Throughout the technique, the key is to manage the connection with the opponent, chase the underhook, and adapt to their movements to successfully execute the sweep.
