About this video
Execute a clean-up movement when the opponent back-steps but tries to maintain the top position. Continuously lift until there's an opportunity to address the opponent's arm.
- As the opponent back-steps and attempts to stay on top, focus on lifting to create space and access to their arm.
- Once the arm is accessible, push it away to disrupt their balance and facilitate a reversal or escape.
- If the opponent posts their hand but doesn't place it far enough back, it's possible to tip them over their post before they can adjust their position.
- In the event the opponent turns their hip through and keeps it elevated, move out of the way and release their hand from the mat.
- If the opponent's weight traps your leg, return your shoulder to the mat, lift their hip, and extract your leg.
- Be aware that this movement may give the opponent an opportunity to attempt the same technique, so be prepared to counter.
- If the leg remains stuck, use a bouncing motion on the opponent's hip to create the necessary space to free the leg.
