About this video

Addressing the whizzer from half guard, it's crucial to prevent the opponent from trapping your head to avoid a Darce choke. Maintain control of their overhooking arm and keep your head far from their reach. Use your free hand to assist in hand fighting and secure a grip on their arm, whether it's a handshake, wrist, or gi grip.

  1. Close your armpit tightly to keep their arm away from your neck and be mindful to not let your head get stuffed down.
  2. Move your hip and use your outside hook to create leverage. If the hook is difficult to establish, mimic the leg work from a twist sweep to position the hook effectively.
  3. Attempt the sweep, but if you lack control of their post, they may shift their weight to counter. When they do, release the hook and swing your head out to come up.
  4. If their arm is bent during your ascent, you may secure a bent arm lock. Otherwise, manipulate their arm with the pinky up, sliding your armpit above their elbow for the finish.
  5. Rotate their arm by dropping your armpit and turning. If the opponent rolls to escape, adjust your grip: the hand under their wrist goes over while the other hand comes underneath to secure the submission.
  6. Should you feel the position is being lost, place your feet on the floor and move to the far side of their body to establish underhook control and prevent them from surfacing.

Throughout the technique, anticipate the opponent's reactions to maintain control and secure the submission or position.
