About this video

Securing the underhook from the bottom position requires maintaining distance and control over the opponent's body. To achieve this:

  1. When the opponent is sitting back on their hips, do not let your guard down as they can quickly gain control.
  2. First, get up on your elbow while keeping your defensive walls up.
  3. Pummel your hand down and slide your arm in to secure the underhook around the opponent's waist.
  4. Ensure good posture by keeping your head up and your ear to their chest while grabbing the waist with the underhooking arm.
  5. If the opponent is pushing into you, use your leg to kick them over your head, creating space to sit up and secure the underhook.
  6. Whether the opponent is sitting back or pushing forward, the key is to maintain strong posture and position once the underhook is established.
